According to Mark Bergen Google has 48 self-driving cars already registered. They have now demo’ed various features to recognize interesting events such as:
- Bikers on the road extending their arm to move in front of vehicle and changing their minds multiple times
- Road construction where the car recognizes the orange cones and changes directions accordingly
- Train crossing where the car recognizes red blinking lights and stops on time
Needless to say but Google is quickly advancing their self-driving technology. They also equipped a Lexus SUV and have over 300,000 tested.
Uber also looking at self-driving cars (already hired former head of Google Maps). These companies are paving the way for the larger auto makers to enter this space. Who far behind will they be though?
